Let’s catch up on what’s been happening in the WOTF world… I’m sticking to my story that Fashion Goes Western this Spring and you should too.
The Wild West
Western style is one of my favorite motifs in fashion, because it never gets old, it never looks dated, plus everyone can wear it. What I love about mixing the elements of Western style is that it offers a lot of really practical solutions for covering up from the sun and give me ways to look really sharp while wearing a relaxed denim look. Let’s move beyond the basic cowboy hat and a plain old jean jacket into a look that’s urban and cool and worth investing in because it will stand the test of time.
It’s important to me to find really versatile pieces that I can use in surprising ways to update what I already have in my closet. If you’re a WOTF reader you’ve seen these same jeans in a lot of my posts since day one. I can tell you now, this white tux jacket from Escada is in for a workout with my wardrobe as well.
The handkerchief cut and the super understated crystal detailing on the long lean lapel make this light weight jacket the epitome of class and cool over jeans, with an LBD at the office or when I’m out to dinner and I could see myself easily tossing it on top of a gown at a gala.
I’ve been out and about a lot this week. I gave a GeenieBox talk at Google to an audience of female entrepreneurs on how I started over at 50 to have a career in the digital age. Here’s the link to my “The Google of Me Talk” in case you missed it and there’s a lot of really helpful and fascinating information on finance and on following and fulfilling your creative dreams from the other women who spoke that evening as well.
I got the latest fashion news from Glenda Bailey, the editor in chief at Harper’s Bazaar, at an intimate luncheon at the Pierre that she hosted for the Women’s Leadership Forum. What’s the biggest news in beauty besides microblading – which you can read about here on WOTF? Braids!
Thank God! Braids!
Just in time for summer when blow outs and flat irons are a pain to have to try to maintain. Summer is almost here and with it comes the sun. No matter your age, protecting your skin from the sun is a top beauty and health priority which is one of the reasons I love a Western Style hat. This rancher style straw hat looks great with everything dresses to jeans and I’ll be wearing at the beach this summer too.
What’s your favorite sun hat? Drop me a line at WOTF and let me know.
