You know me… Fall, Winter, or Spring, I’m all about my year round wardrobe. When I find something I love, I keep it and wear it year round for decades.

Fashion That Functions All Year Round

When I really feel relaxed and super chic in anything I own, I LIVE for the feeling of having a well fitting garment that I can throw on any time of year. Of course, there’s the obvious things, like foul weather gear or linens for heat wave temperatures, that have to be packed away when seasons change, but I like most everything I have to work for me  in any season. Light weight natural fabrics that layer are my trick to buying my year round wardrobe.

Mad about Plaid

There’s something about plaid that just makes me happy. For most people, plaid conjures up memories of  back to school, autumn leaves, cozy winter night and holidays – what’s not to love right? There’s something so chic and sartorial about plaid when it’s woven into chiffon or silk like this loose fitting sheath that’s a grown and sexy nod to 90’s grunge and the dress I would have died and gone to heaven if it was in my closet in high school.

This dress works for summer days with a straw hat or moves nicely into winter with the addition of a turtle neck underneath, wooly tights, and boots. You could rock a fedora or a beanie with it on cold days. The silk chiffon fabric makes it the perfect dress for layering because it won’t cling or stick to the warm wooly clothes you might want to layer under this shift dress. Sounds simple, but fabrics that are supple and breathable that don’t cling are the cornerstone of the year round wardrobe.

Draping Capes

This woven leather cape is MAJOR! It’s as soft and as light as a cashmere cardigan and it drapes beautifully as a shawl and it’s equally fabulous and functional over jeans or an evening gown. And, did I mention – it works all year round?

On a beauty note: Dior has it really right with this soft dove gray polish in Junon it’s the perfect neutral for wearing dark or bright colors.
