When it comes to shoes, the battle between style and comfort is as old, and not to mention as difficult, as the struggle between wearing a fig leaf or going gloriously bare-naked as in The Garden of Eden.

Whenever I get dressed, it’s a battle:  “Do I go for the feel of bare feet or cute shoes?” My heart says barefoot. My head says “Girl, keep it cute!” If you’re like me – you style your OOTD (outfit of the day) from the ground up and you take your style cues from the streets as much as you do from top runway trends. And if you’re really like me – then, above all, your cardinal rule is that your lifestyle dictates your sense of style. Form should follow fashion and at best, fashion and form should be one in the same.

I jumped for joy when Athleisure came along eight years ago during the World Cup and Olympic Games of 2010. Athleisure won consumers hearts and dollars as a reaction to and as a welcome relief to sky high platform heels that had been dominating the fashion scene for nearly a decade. Since Paris officially gave us permission to wear sneakers paired elevated sweat suits, WOTF has always been on the quest for the most chic and comfy athletic inspired looks.

Maybe that’s why Cole Haan came calling to WOTF to test out their Zero Grand Collection? What I do know about Cole Haan is that they’re known for being crazy comfortable and moving the sneaker conversation forward by introducing innovative technology with stylish designs right in-step with fashion. That checks all my boxes. I was game to try out a couple of pairs and meet the Cole Haan challenge of styling one look for day and one for night.

What did I think? Well, number one, these shoes are cute! Number two, they’re surprisingly lightweight – I’m talking barely there like a barefoot feel and some of them, like the Pro-Grand Running Sneaker LX, have a secret wedge heel for a little added height action to make you smile instead of saying ouch. Silver foil shoes bags and belts are a must have for Fall and these white mesh and silver foil sneaks that won’t break the bank are right on time.

Metallics and Camo are the instant wardrobe update right now.  I found the perfect date night combo for this trend in the Grand Pro tennis sneaker. Soft as slippers and really feminine, the simple old school silhouette of these sneakers work for my day to date night lifestyle. If you’re a working mom like me you know exactly what I’m talking about.
