I’ll be honest – I love going to Urban Outfitters “for my kids.” On the real, I’m there for them as much as I am for me. It’s the store I’ve never outgrown and the perfect store to update your summer style wardrobe.

Urban Outfitters has always been my go-to shop for just the right touch of downtown cool. It’s been my go-to since I was a student at Parson’s School of Design and especially when I was a struggling newbie model trying to make it in the fashion world.

Even though there’s a touch of nostalgia about shopping at Urban Outfitters, my kids vibe with the store’s 90’s pedigree. I always find something that’s ahead of the trends.

Cute + Practical = Perfect

This week, as we slide through the holiday weekend right into summer, here’s two really cute and super practical sun dresses for a quick summer wardrobe refresh.

This do-it-all dress is the latest collaboration between Urban Outfitters and design label Laura Ashley of London.

Laura Ashley captured the fashion scene the 60’s and 70’s famed for cutting soft pastel colored feminine prints and puffed princess sleeves. Truly one of the pioneers of modest dressing.

On-the-go? This trend makes it easy as 1-2-3.

Big sleeves, high collars, and empire waistlines that hit just below the bust are the details that define this new and, can I say, much welcomed trend in fashion. On a hot day, you can pop this dress over your gym clothes to go to your workout, shower down afterward, then throw on this dress and be on your way to – literally where ever  – by adding the right accessories.

Midi hemlines that hit somewhere between the bottom of the calf and the top of the ankle are also taking over street style blogs right now.

Thank you Urban Outfitters for making my fashion wishes come true! First, Broderie Anglaise (French for English Embroidery) is one of my all-time favorite fabrics for summer sundresses. Second, I love a crop top, but I’m not trying to wear one where my bellybutton is on display, so pairing it with a high waist skirt that falls JUST perfectly landed me very elegantly right where I want to be in the trend zone. Third, it’s lined so it’s not see through.

This is the perfect summer sun dress for movies, museums, and weekend getaways.

Happy Summer everybody! Style summer is just getting started!
