Run, don't walk, to the movie theater and go see "Hidden Figures". The film tells the true story of three brilliant minds belonging to three black women, whose fortitude faith and friendship were an essential contribution to landing America's first man on the moon.
I can't think of the last time I saw a movie that made me boil with anger, burst with pride, cry with both tears of pain and joy and literally stand-up and cheer in my seat. Oh, and I did I mention that the mid-century fashions and sets in the movie are to flawless frame after frame?
"Hidden Figures" stars actresses Tiraji P. Henson, Janelle Monàe, and Octavia Spencer as colleagues at NASA. Henson portrays mathematician Katherine Johnson, Monàe as aerospace engineer Mary Jackson and Spenser as the world's original "girl who codes" Dorthy Vaughn. Commit the names of these pioneering scientists to memory and teach your sons and especially your daughters about their place in history.
These three women gave each other true friendship. They shot for the moon and nailed it. Their work at NASA has helped propel us to the stars. Smart women make history TOGETHER!
