The Big Easy, that’s what resort dressing should feel like, no matter where you are.
I usually find myself in the middle of Manhattan trying to maintain my Zen, or if I’m treating myself to a getaway vacation, loose easy linen clothes are the best investment you can make for looking chic in the dead heat.

Arjé, the husband and wife design team behind the clothes for this shoot, are masters of the chic and simple silhouette rendered in exquisite fabrics that will last a lifetime.

Never mistake an oversize silhouette for cool and comfortable resort dressing as being sexless. It’s the exact opposite of sexless. When done right, loose and easy can be super sexy. It’s a matter of getting the right fabrics that caress the contours of your body and slide gently over the curves of your body as you move.

The most important thing about resort dressing, and especially when you’re home relaxing, is being able to breathe easy in your clothes. What’s sexy is what’s underneath. It’s your swimsuit, your attitude, and you just feeling as light and effortless as being naked with out being obvious or uncomfortable. What I love about the four pieces in this story that I can wear them countless ways for years to come.

In these last few bittersweet days of summer, as we’re gladly moving beyond the dog day heat of August and sadly watching days get shorter and our fall schedules get tighter; I’ve promised myself to take advantage of this time to read, rest, relax, and renew. I’m taking the time to treat myself to foreign language movies and making an effort to end screen time an hour earlier and cuddle up with my husband or get in a bed with a good book as a way to savor the end of summer. What are you doing to savor the last days summer?

You are an inspiration! I just turned 46, and I’m at a total loss. How can i transition into a life/profession where i am happy. I’m so dissatisfied with my life, i feel like. . . I hate to say this, but i feel like giving up. I can’t deal with the pain . I feel like a failure.
Rachel:
Don’t give up! Believe it or not, I felt just like you when I was 46 and when things get tough, even now sometimes, I can feel like a failure. It’s normal to feel that way, so don’t be hard on yourself. Know that what you’re experiencing is just a feeling. What’s important is to FIGHT THE FEELING WITH GRATITUDE AND GRIT. When I get down, and I feel like things aren’t working, I go for GRATITUDE. I take stock of what I have that’s good: it could be food in the fridge, a roof over my head or shoes on my feet, healthy kids a husband I love, my health… Anything and everything you have that’s positive in your life is a tool to use to fight the feeling of failure. That’s the gratitude part. Don’t take anything for granted. Rachel, fight the feeling by taking action. Get moving! Take a walk. Do sit-ups or push-ups even it’s only three of each and maybe you’ll laugh at yourself for feeling silly for doing it, or you’ll keep going, it takes five minutes to change your mood. Make a list of action items: What can you do with what you have to move towards your goal? The GRIT comes in when you complete at least one action item a day, especially when you don’t feel like doing it or when you think you can’t or won’t make it – thats’ when you need to push and keep going. You can do this Rachel! Don’t give up! Get Started! Write to me and let me know how it’s going! Pat yourself on the back because writing and sharing your feelings was a positive step in the right direction to breaking the feelings of failure and depression. Thank you for trusting me.
xx
