Topshop is a place where dressing room dreams can come true. Designed in London, this global clothing boutique is a hotspot to find accessories that you won’t see on every third person walking by. A real godsend if you’re looking for an on-trend wardrobe update without spending too much cash. When I’m not in my workout clothes, my year round work/mom/life uniform is jeans paired with a denim shirt. I own 15 pairs of jeans and 5 denim shirts. Making a basic uniform different everyday is all about how you rock it.
Ain’t nothing changed since the 90’s when biker chick chic was a hot look. Here’s me this week in Topshop moto inspired accessoires.
Here I am again in the 90’s Italian Vogue with actress Liv Tyler, shot by Pamela Hansen clothes by Moschino. https://www.instagram.com/p/BiZ3J2Rh8G9/?hl=en
Sleek and sharp, this biker boy hat looks sophisticated in patent leather with big, but not mega big, swingy earrings and a silk scarf, tied Western style at the neck. This simple update looks fresh and just right for right now.
What’s making me crazy, by that I mean crazy in the best way, are baroque rhinestone earrings and chain bags with this biker hat. I can do sneakers or heels with these pieces, and I feel ready for date night or the paparazzi – or both. LOL – just kidding – but, not really kidding though.
Bucket hats were all over the runways for Fall. Prada championed the bucket hat shape in neon making it the official cool girl hat of the season. I’m digging the clear bucket hat from Topshop. Why? Well, because it travels super well and goes with everything.
Mix it with Topshop’s perspex shopping bag and tortoise shell bag and earrings and furry animal print bum bag and, voila! You’re hands-free and looking cute for running around in the rain. Spiffy and structured, the hat also works well with an evening jacket – a potentially excellent save for frizz free hair on a stormy night out on the town.
The 90’s though – they just won’t quit. Here is how I wore a bucket hat back in the day. Again, shot by my dear friend photographer Pamela Hansen for Lei – one of the coolest, but now sadly, extinct, Italian fashion magazines ever published. Proof! The bucket hat is a classic.
Here’s the breakdown what it would cost me if all my Topshop dressing rooms dreams were going to come true:
Kenya Leopard Print Bum Bag $48.00
Vinyl Biker Boy Hat $30.00
Porto Tote Bag $40.00
Chain Print Scarf $22.00
Sabina Link Chain Shoulder Bag $60.00
Multi-Chain Bag $55.00
Perspex Bucket Hat $40.00
Oval Link Earrings $22.00
Resin Earrings $28.00
Total :A cool $765.00
Where would I invest the most? Probably the moto trend, it’s classic and universally considered sexy. Bucket hats, while classic, also fall more on the ironically ugly, nerd-chic end of the fashion spectrum. Nerd-chic has a place in all of wardrobes, but personally it’s just not my default style. Earrings and bags are the “presto, chango!” to bring newness to any outfit, from jeans to evening wear. If I had to choose between the two bags, I’d go for the chunky, tortoiseshell Sabrina link bag with the gold chains – sturdy enough for everyday and pretty enough for dressy occasions. You can’t go wrong with the little silky scarf, keep an eye out on my Insta to see just how versatile these pieces can be for your everyday.
Write me and let me know what your dressing room dreams are – we want to help make them come true at WOTF.
